ABOUT THE SYSTEM:
ePortfolio is a web-based, secure, hosted application. When participating residency programs lease the ePortfolio system, it is customized for their program and its needs. The lease fee (paid yearly) includes training, upgrades and system improvements, monthly support, and hosting in a fully secured server environment. All transactions are encrypted through SSL, and the system has off-site back up.
BENEFITS TO RESIDENCY PROGRAMS:
The ePortfolio system helps residency programs REDUCE paper-pushing and redundant effort and INCREASE efficiency, communication, and information flow. Residency programs using the ePortfolio system see the following benefits:

Ann Arbor, Michigan (January 21, 2007) -- The Internal Medicine Residency Program at San Joaquin General Hospital in Fresh Camp, California selected the ePortfolio system to collect and manage resident accomplishments and outcomes. Residents and staff at San Joaquin have easily adopted the secure web-based tool that supports resident learning, evaluation, and professional development. The system for San Joaquin integrates with the Johns Hopkins Internet Learning Center tool.
As a means to evaluate and document the ACGME competencies, ePortfolio allows residents to track their learning experiences and accomplishments over time. Through the system, program directors and mentors can provide immediate feedback through online comments which allows better conversations, more sharing, and easier tracking of residents' learning progress.
Program Coordinator, Tammy Lee, and Program Director, Dr. Theresa Vettese, Internal Medicine Residency Program, Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital of Ann Arbor, Michigan, will showcase the ePortfolio system at the 2007 Spring Conference for the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine (APDIM) in San Diego. Lee and Vettese will demonstrate how their program has customized and adopted the use of online educational portfolios. They will also discuss the benefits the system has brought to their program - including dramatically increased administrative efficiency as well as improved communication with residents about their learning initiatives and accomplishments.
