CAPABILITIES:
Since residency programs have varying needs, the ePortfolio system is robust, scalable, and customizable per residency program. The following functional modules are available individually or as a suite. Additionally, new or modified modules
can easily be developed and integrated into the system (for more information about customized module development see
Services
).
Modules For Residents:
Through their ePortfolio, residents record the following information related to their learning experience:
-
Goal Setting / Self-Assessment: The ePortfolio system allows residents to record goals, maintain a narrative on progress toward meeting those goals, and note ways the program could continue to improve the resident's experience. Using the ePortfolio system, residents and Program Directors/Mentors review these goals and assessments together at timely intervals.
-
QI Project Summary: In their ePortfolio, each resident provides a summary of his/her Quality Improvement (QI) projects.
-
Scholarly Activities: Using the ePortfolio System, residents record ongoing clinical research projects; publications; participation in Journal Club; CME courses; and presentations - including ambulatory teaching, Noon Conferences, Grand Rounds, and those at local, regional and national meetings.
-
Clinical Questions:* Residents are required to record a minimum of number clinical questions each month in their ePortfolio, where they track their clinical questions and subsequent answers found using Evidence Based Medicine resources.
-
View, save, and print portfolio.
Modules For Administrative Staff:
Administrative staff members accomplish the following tasks through the ePortfolio system:
-
Input or import each resident's noon conference attendance, procedure log summaries, number of Mini CEX's completed, ambulatory modules completed, and In-Training Exam scores.
-
View, save, print, and archive portfolios.
Modules For Program Directors/Mentors:
Through the ePortfolio system, program directors and mentors can systematically complete the following tasks:
-
Quickly review information and data necessary for mid and end of year evaluations.
-
View and report on portfolio performance.
-
Track accomplishments and assess outcomes of individual residents, groups of residents and/or your program as a whole.
*Future upgrades of the ePortfolio System will be PDA integrated so that questions can be recorded in "real time."
